Ruth Langsford, 60, has opened up about how she maintains her figure while treating herself to an occasional cake and alcoholic beverage to "enjoy life". The This Morning presenter explained that she exercises and includes vegetables in her diet to stay healthy.

The star, who is married to her co-host Eamonn Holmes, 60, insisted her fitness regime of achieving "10,000 steps a day" is a "constant battle".

However, Ruth insisted her exercise goals are "not about being skinny".

Ruth told Woman & Home: "I aim for 10,000 steps a day, but it's a constant battle.

"It's not about being skinny, it's about keeping moving."

The Loose Women panellist also admitted her body confidence is "not that high".

She added: "I do have a certain degree of confidence myself, but it's not that high.

"I still think, ‘I'm two sizes bigger than I was in my 40s.'

"I've got my wobbly bits I don't like."

Fortunately, Ruth revealed that her other half Eamonn is always there to give her confidence a "boost".

She gushed: "I definitely feel sexy at 60, but a big part of that is thanks to my husband.

"He tells me: ‘You look fantastic, I think you're really sexy, I fancy you.' He boosts my confidence."

Eamonn and Ruth recently spoke out about sitting close together while hosting This Morning during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government has urged the public to focus on social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus.

As the ITV show began last week, Eamonn explained: "In regards to social distancing, don't bother phoning in and asking ‘why are these two sitting close together?'.

"We are together, we live together. A lot of people think how could she have pulled him?

"But we even share a bed when I don't fall asleep downstairs in the sofa."

Ruth then added: "A lot of people think it's a fake marriage… they think I'm punching!"

Eamonn clarified: "If it was me and Rochelle Humes we would be two metres apart."

Ruth responded by quipping: "Much to your disappointment… you're stuck with me."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
